Among the top 10 are 2 Charlotte area communities that have long become synonymous with affordable housing, great lifestyle, and easy access to Charlotte and it’s many activities. Cornelius, located 30 miiles north of Charlotte on the shores of Lake Norman, was listed at number 7, and Fort Mill, just 22 minutes south of the city across the South Carolina border, came in at number 10.

A tax credit of up to $8,000 is now available as part of the stimulus bill that was signed into law last month. The credit applies to qualified first-time home buyers purchasing a principal residence on or after January 1, 2009 and before December 1, 2009. Unlike the tax credit enacted in 2008, the new credit does not have to be repaid.

homeowner-help3The Obama Administration has unveiled a Web site to assist homeowners in determining whether they are eligible for help with their current mortgages. This comes, as loan servicers determine how to implement the President ’s foreclosure prevention plan.

The new help for American’s homeowners web site can be found at MakingHomeAffordable.gov.

The administration’s new Web site helps homeowners determine whether they might qualify for either a loan modification or refinancing. It also provides links to finding government-approved housing counselors and warns people to avoid foreclosure rescue scams.
