Shannamara is a large neighborhood of approximately 700 homes located off of the Lawyers Rd exit of I-485 in Matthews. The housing component of the development is part of the Divide Golf Club and is a beautiful, well maintained community. The neighborhood has been around for over ten years and is loaded with amenities and fun family activities.

The neighborhood lies just across the county line in Union County, but a small part of the neighborhood bordering I-485 lies within Mecklenburg County. The legal address for the neighborhood is Matthews.

The Divide Golf Course winds through the neighborhood offering many golf course lots and others with golf course views. The Divide is part of The Carolina Trail, a golf course marketing and management company which offers memberships and reduced fees to 7 local courses. Since The Divide is a daily fee course, it is possible to own a home with beautiful golf course views without paying pricey membership dues.

Other neighborhood amenities include a clubhouse with swimming and wading pools plus a playground and tennis courts. The Shannamara homeowners association is very active with a number of seasonal events for neighborhood children and organized groups for adults.
