If you’re searching for a great home value surrounded by a host of shopping, schools, and churches, look no further than Madison Park. This subdivision, actually a large suburb, is situated between South Boulevard on the west and Park Road on the east, and Woodlawn Road on the north and Tyvola Road on the south in South Charlotte. Madison Park is convenient to Uptown Charlotte, as well as, the new Light Rail Line along South Blvd.
Homes in Madison Park date back to the ’50’s and ’60’s when craftsmen built homes with bricks and sticks. The homes here are predominately traditional in style and include ranches, split levels, and 2 story homes. Most of the homes are 3 bedroom, 2 bath brick and strongly resemble more expensive bungalows in other parts of Charlotte. The shade trees and winding streets gives the neighborhood a relaxed, serene feel and the character of an established small town neighborhood.
Providence Country Club was established in 1989 and has grown to be one of Charlotte’s premier country clubs. Featuring an exquisite Dan Maples designed golf course, the Club offers some of the finest recreational amenities in the area in an easily accessible location.

Myers Park is a well established affluent neighborhood in Charlotte. Though its boundaries were initially considered to coincide with the boundaries of the 1220-acre John Spring Myers farm, in 2008 the neighborhood comprised 2200 acres and a population of 9,809. The Myers Park neighborhood is that area bounded by Queens Road on the north; Providence Road on the east; Sharon Road on the south; and Colony, East Woodlawn and South Kings on the west.
Charlotteans today know the Myers Park neighborhood as one of the city’s prestige addresses, an area of fine homes, tree-lined streets, and curving drives. Few realize that the neighborhood’s importance extends far beyond Charlotte. Myers Park is of statewide significance because it was the home of many of the textile, banking, and utility leaders responsible for developing the Piedmont Carolinas into a major American manufacturing region in the early twentieth century.
The Cotswold neighborhood of Charlotte takes its name from a large shopping center, Cotswold Shopping Center, located at the intersection of Randolph and Sharon Amity Roads. Originally known as Cotswold Mall, it was Charlotte’s first suburban mall. Cotswold has emerged as one of the nicer areas for living and shopping with close proximity to Uptown, SouthPark Mall, and offers family-oriented amenities like numerous churches, great schools, and parks nearby.
Montclaire is an attractive established neighborhood located in South Charlotte. This subdivision is situated between South Boulevard on the west and Park Road Park on the east, and Tyvola Road on the north. Montclaire is convenient to Uptown Charlotte, as well as, the new Light Rail Line along South Blvd. This popular community also lies amidst several other much sought after neighborhoods – Madison Park, Collins Park and Starmount.
Providence Plantation is one of Charlotte’s largest suburban neighborhoods consisting of approximately 1,500 homes. It lies just inside I-485 and is bordered to the north by neighborhoods which face Highway 5, to the east by neighborhoods facing the town of Matthews, and Providence Road to the West. Access to the neighborhood can be made from High Ridge Road or Kuykendall Road off Providence Road on the west or from Weddington Road on the east.
Raintree Country Club was established in 1971 in the tradition of a fine private, member-run, not-for-profit Country Club. The centerpiece of the community are the two championship 18-hole courses each providing a different and unique challenge for golfers of all levels we offer an outstanding practice facility with a driving range, two practice greens and a teaching area. Membership in the golf club is optional for homeowners within the Raintree HOA.

Stonehaven is a huge, well established neighborhood located in east Charlotte to the south and east of Sardis Road and Rama Road and extends over to McAlpine Creek. The subdivision was built during the 1960’s and 10970’s and the homes here reflect the craftsmanship prevalent during that era: brick exteriors, “ground up” construction, hardwood floors, and ceramic tile bathrooms.
Olde Providence is a beautiful neighborhood located in the heart of desirable South Charlotte. It is just three miles from SouthPark, a shorter distance to Arboretum Shopping Center, and 9 miles from uptown Charlotte with easy access to the city’s best amenities. Colony Place is just to the south of the neighborhood, is one of Charlotte’s newest and most upscale neighborhood shopping centers, providing all the conveniences plus restaurants and coffee shops in a comfortable, pedestrian-friendly village with an outdoor seating.
In late 2007, the Charlotte Area Transit System (CATS) began operation of the 9.6-mile LYNX Blue Line light rail line, which extends from Uptown Charlotte southward to near the I-485 expressway. The line runs more or less parallel to South Boulevard and the I-77 expressway.
Most observers credit the line’s success to expensive parking and excessive traffic in Uptown Charlotte. The area draws 71,000 workers each day. It also features several regional destinations, including Bank of America Stadium, Time Warner Cable Arena and the Charlotte Convention Center. The area also has over 100 bars and restaurants along with numerous theaters, museums and galleries. The light rail line allows commuters and visitors to park-and-ride in several of the convenient southern stations along South Boulevard.
The Cameron Wood neighborhood is located on 386 acres of land that, in earlier years, was a hunting preserve owned by the Belk family. The property, which includes a man-made pond, was at one time considered as a possible location for a major shopping mall. However, the plans were changed because it was thought to be too far from the center of Charlotte to be suitable. Eventually, in an exchange of properties, the Harris family became the owners of the property and the Belk family took over the land that would one day become the site of SouthPark mall.
A few more ownership changes occurred before UDC Homes took over the property and neighborhood covenants were filed on July 8, 1986. In 1996, the remaining homesites were sold by UDC to David Weekly Homes. David Weekly completed their work in Cameron Wood in 2000.
The Beverly Woods neighborhood is a highly sought-after community that is located along Sharon Road, just south of Fairview Road. SouthPark Mall, the Harris YMCA, Phillips Place, and Morrocroft Village are just around the corner with abundant shops and world class restaurants.

Somerset is a master-planned neighborhood with great amenities and open spaces. The community is located only minutes from I-485 at the intersection of Rea Rd and Tom Short Rd in Waxhaw. MATTHEWS GROVE
Matthews Grove is a thriving South Charlotte neighborhood consisting of 225 single family homes located on McKee Road between Weddington and Pleasant Plains Roads. The homes in Matthews Grove range in size from just under 2000 square feet to just over 3000 square feet. Prices on currently available homes start in the $180s to over $220s.
There is a very active Home Owners Association which holds numerous events, like Landscape Day, Ice Cream Socials, and Community Garage Sale. They also take great pride in the landscaping and maintenance of the Matthews Grove front entrance, their individual homes, as well as, other common areas within the subdivision.
Shannamara is a large neighborhood of approximately 700 homes located off of the Lawyers Rd exit of I-485 in Matthews. The housing component of the development is part of the Divide Golf Club and is a beautiful, well maintained community. The neighborhood has been around for over ten years and is loaded with amenities and fun family activities.
The neighborhood lies just across the county line in Union County, but a small part of the neighborhood bordering I-485 lies within Mecklenburg County. The legal address for the neighborhood is Matthews.
